AV Dojo | 12/13/23 Notes and Recap
We opened this session of the Dojo with breathing exercises that everyone agreed we could use more of.
The opening concept was [4] Infinite Excellence based on 2 Peter 1:1-11. We talked about how this scripture represents two cycles of [4] The Quad, with the first individual/internal virtues and the second communal/external virtues and how each builds on the one before.
We also talked about how the development of these virtues are supported by [4] Secure Attachment, an adaptation of Dan Siegel’s Four Ss of Showing Up. This approach to helping people work through difficult emotions helps people have appropriate attachments and avoid “toxic ruptures” – negative thought cycles that are hardwired in the brain when we aren’t socialized through stress properly.
One of our members demonstrated inward listening using “the sway test” and we talked about how the practice of sway test can be thought of as a quad:
[1] Center yourself (Emergence)
[2] Sway test (Balance)
[3] Answer (Productivity)
[4] Apply it (Broadcast)We discussed in depth the importance of belief in one’s self and how in [1] Emergence, that belief must be invested by and borrowed from others until it becomes our own through an overcoming experience in [3] Productivity.
Next time we plan on doing some work in mission-specific breakout groups. Also, one of our members will continue to help us with breathing as we start.
