Towards Spiritual Paradigms of Decision Making
As we’re launching a lot of of things in the current season, I’m running into a perennial problem:
How to decide between lots of important and worthy projects and potential priorities?
This leads me to want to learn some better systems of decision making (both personally and in community). While I’m interested in what science and influencers have to say about this issue, I’d really like a better understanding of the methods of decision making spiritual people have used in Scripture and throughout history. So I’d like to explore in our community the question of spiritual paradigms of decision making: How to make personal and community decisions with God in the center in ways that fit naturally with each situation?
To this end, I’ve started a forum on the topic in the Discussion section of our site (account and login required). It would be great if everyone could take a few hours over the next month or two to pray, study, and think about this issue. As we post to the forum, thinking about commenting on what each other finds will be especially important for discernment and crunching all our research into some practical guidelines.
I’m also considering doing semi-regular prayer, study, and discernment Zoom meetings in the near future: first, to tackle this issue, then to serve as a live forum for discussing the issues that come up in life and mission together. If you’re interested in something like this, please leave a comment below (also requires an account and login: Sorry! But I don’t have time to clean up spam-comments). It would be especially helpful if you mention what times might work for you.
I concur that it it a very timely and prudent decision in lieu of the times and season. #Issachar
