SparkQuest

SparkQuest is a story and game played by the MagSchool gamer community on private Minecraft servers as an open-world sandbox environment.

The SparkQuest Stories Series

The SparkQuest Series will include five “books” or major story periods which will advance from modern day into a far SciFi future. Each will eventually be hosted on its own private server, using specific mods to enhance gameplay.

(2022-2096)
Steve, Alex, and the other students of Magoulo’s School imagine a new future, but chaos looms on the horizon.

(2096-2101)
Star City is a haven in a chaotic world, but deep secrets reveal that dangers lurk both within and without.

Book 3

ANF

(2101-2155)
Humanity gets a new chance on a new world, but the struggle on Earth continues.

(3109-3112)
Jaecar finds himself lost in space but discovers hope for humanity in their quest to survive.

(3112-?)
The Children of the Ark and their friends return to Earth for the ultimate showdown over the fate of humanity.

Gameplay

Gameplay for SparkQuest occurs in two places: [1] The story portions on the blog or course system of this site, and [2] the game portions in the Minecraft sandbox game.

The Minecraft portions of the game primarily occur on custom Minecraft servers running the Spigot/PaperMC versions of Java Edition, but support for players using Bedrock edition clients is provided through the Geyser proxy plugin. It’s strongly recommended that new players connect through the orientation course “Welcome to New City” that includes instructions for connecting to the SparkQuest STF Server. Alternately, direct instructions are available on this wiki:

Story and Game Development

Development of SparkQuest is done cooperatively by the community. Members who participate significantly in development are called (informally) Spark Crafters. Ideas for development are posted to the Spark Crafters discussion forum. Once an idea is fully developed and becomes part of “canon”, it may be moved here to this codex or posted to the blog or a course.
