The Storm of Complexity
The Storm of Complexity refers to the compounded complexifying effects of the modern project on all areas of human life and enterprise that reached its culmination in the late Twentieth and early Twenty-first Century. The Republic-Industrial Citizen VS took the pre-modern classification — the key Systemic Innovation of the Hierarchical-Feudal Hero VS — and standardized it to compartmentalize nearly all of human life by the late Twentieth Century. This lead to the fragmentation of human social and political systems as well as increasing fragmentation of the environment. As the Meritocracy-Consumer Achiever VS specialized all sectors of life, work, and the usage of environmental resources, unprecedented mixing of the fragmented pieces of society began. Soon, the Quorum – Actualization Village VS mandated this mixing as a measure of equity, and, with its work meeting injustice by the flattening of power structures, the result was mixes of all fragments spreading complexity both locally and globally. As the Network-Information Systems VS came of age, it did so in the full fledged “Storm of Complexity” now unleashed by the project of modernity. As it used the power of virtualization to build and expand networks, it further flattened power structures by giving unlimited access to connections, thus create “super-events” in the storm called Catastrophic Network Effects (CNE) — uncontrollable and unpredictable massive emergent phenomenon that evolve, self-organize, and spread rapidly to disrupt everything connected to the network. It is out of disillusionment based on the culmination of the storm in CNE that the Cybernets-Technoglobalism Universe VS is launching the trans-human revolution and birthing a new system.
