Topic Title Semantics

When creating a topic on a course, the following semantic formatting should be used:

Topic Category | Activity: Topic Title | Action

  • Topic Category — The larger learning category that this topic belongs to. Used when a topic has broader application or develops ideas beyond the scope of the current course. This could be a skill category or a subject category.
  • Activity — When a topic includes a learning activity, it should proceed the topic title. For example, many courses ask students to actively research content for the course, so topics that do this are formatted “Research: Topic Title“.
  • Topic Title — The title of the current topic.
  • Action — Topics that include an direction action the student will complete at the conclusion of the topic should specify that action. Many of these actions are online within the site or community, but some may be elsewhere online or offline.

Not all elements need be used for each topic. Topic Title is the mandatory element. When a topic contains only informational content for the student, one would only use a Topic Title.

Additional Elements

[#] — A number in a bracket in a section, lesson, or topic title references a frame shape from the SOF / Mágoulo’s Matrix.
