I looked into maggot farming and composting meat. Let’s start with meat. While a lot of sources say you shouldn’t none of them say that you can’t. There are ways to compost and recycle meat waste. To summarize the meat can’t be easily accessible to animals or they will try to get to it. It can be composted (hot) or fed to maggots which in turn are then fed to other things. While it is possible to compost it in a bokashi bucket those use anaerobic bacteria to break down their material. As such I wasn’t sure about including them here however given a specific mention of them, I am assuming that when hot composting they do not play a pivotal role in the decomposition.
I also looked into maggot farming and those searches yielded decent results. There is one video that says that you can feed the maggots primarily meat and the other is about black soldier flies which I’m not sure can be cultivated here effectively. I will include a link to the black soldier fly wiki as it is an interesting read.

MemberSeptember 26, 2024 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Charles Darwin's Journey: Observation, Records, and Specimen CollectionsCharles Darwin was born in 1809 and would leave on his voyage in 1831 at the age of 22.
He would take ship on the HMS Beagle and the voyage would be at least partially funded by his father.
They would spend the majority of their time in South America and would collect many species.
When Charles Darwin returned home he would write about his discoveries and theories about evolution and would publish the culmination of his works in 1859 in the book The Origins of Species.
His work would become the foundation for all modern evolutionary theory and science.

In 1948 Henry Walter Bates and his friend Alfred Russel Wallace left Liverpool for the Amazon. They planned on funding their expedition by sending specimens back to England where an agent would sell them. They landed in Belem once called Para and stayed there for a year. They then agreed to move inland independently. He would then move up the Amazon. He would send approximately 15,000 species back to England of which 8,000 would be claimed as new. Of these, at least 550 would be butterflies. He is credited with the theory of Batesian Mimicry which bears his name, it is the theory of non-toxic or dangerous species mimicking the colors and patterns of toxic and dangerous species as a deterrent to predators. He would return to England in 1859 and work for the Royal Geographical Society for the rest of his life.

Czech is a small country that was once half of Czechoslovakia.
It is landlocked in the middle of Europe, Germany sits on its northwest, Poland to the North, and Austria and Hungary to the south.
Mostly people of Czech live in Czech.
They are a democratic nation with a decent economy. They also have a rich history and culture.
The country Czechoslovakia was created in 1918 after the Austria/Hungary empire broke up. During the second world war, they were occupied by nazi Germany. After their liberation, they decided to break up the republic into Czech and Slovakia in 1992.
Czech is a tourist destination and a thoroughly integrated part of Europe.

MemberApril 11, 2024 at 2:41 pm in reply to: HECS: Ray Dalio’s Principles for Dealing with the Changing World OrderIt was a very interesting video, it was nice to have it all laid out and easy to comprehend. One of my take aways is that internal strife is almost always a prelude to the ultimate down fall.

From what I’ve found Data Analysis is taking information and formatting it so that it can be used. A Data Analyst’s job is to collect historical data and sort, clean, organize, and display it so that it can be used to make educated decisions and allocate resources more effectively.
These three links I found do a good job of summing this up and explaining it.
This first one talks about a few different types of frameworks: https://rikkeisoft.com/blog/data-analytics-framework/
This second one talks about why data analysis is important and how the process of doing it: https://www.simplilearn.com/data-analysis-methods-process-types-article
This third is also about the process in case the second uses too much technical language: https://www.g2.com/articles/data-analysis-process

AdministratorJanuary 26, 2024 at 8:10 pm in reply to: Transitioning from Research to DesignHere is the diagram I made to make and record Kata, on it any position can be described with just six words, and most movements with not many more. It works with a simple coordinate system, one for your hands and another for the direction your sword is pointing, for example, a hanging guard would be as such: Hands High Right, facing Middle Right Middle. But if you wanted to go from hanging guard to fool’s guard you would do as such: move from High Right, facing Middle Right Middle to Low Right, Switch to one hand and face Ankle.

For a training system in the Do/Way we need to define and refine what our Do/Way will be, but in my opinion, training the Do/Way as we train the Kata would be the best way to go about it, teach them why they learn as they learn.

AdministratorJanuary 26, 2024 at 4:18 pm in reply to: Transitioning from Research to DesignThis project connects to my mission through the idea of duty, to execute this you will need many different skills, and each skill you acquire will be something else I know, gathering knowledge and experience is never a waste. Martial arts have uses from exercise that you can practice yourself to something you can employ in a pinch.

The video was very interesting, it not only showed the scenes of the movie but what they would have done in the situation or their Kata that most resembled the movements in the movie. For just eleven minutes they pack a lot of information into there. Something that I also found interesting is how some of their reactions were not to the actions themselves but to the amount of force applied, for example in one scene someone is thrown very hard, and he said that they don’t do that because it is too hard to fall safely, in another they say that one should never cross your hands because it inhibits your movement, so it is taboo, this thing is not done. A very enlightening video.

- Not really, perhaps it could support one of the tamer and less active martial arts, but for anything that requires devotion our current psychology would likely not be able to support it.
- There is no single source of the commitment and devotion needed to learn a martial art, reprogramming has been so focused on the erasing of individuality for so long I’m not sure where we would find a method of reprogramming that could fill our need. (Edit: A powerful sense of mission could be a source of the required commitment and devotion needed to perform and exceed the requirements of a martial art.)
- Maybe, preserving the individual is difficult when you want someone united with others for a common cause. (Edit: To create an identity you could add titles and badges, perhaps add a sharp uniform if you really wanted to create that team identity while still preserving the individual.)
