Here are our trial offering ideas:
- screens bootcamp (live)
- screen time log + cert
- screen time email hotline
After saying “screen time log,” about a dozen different ways we agreed on the following:
DL+P screen time bootcamp you can do at home:
User keeps a log
- We provide a sheet/graph that has an easy to use format and can be used to calculate screen time.
- Time periods could be in days, weeks, or months, I would recommend weeks as its a good middle ground between too long a turn over rate and too short We create analysis system —
Which are you? :: “The Doomscroller”,
“Emoji Monkey,” “Grind Ghoul,” “InstaGlamer”, “Streak Freak,”
“SeeFoodies,” “NightNerd,” etc.
- Provide potential solutions to each variety of addiction, for ex. a “Doomscroller” might benifit most from avoiding the social media platforms where they tend to doom scroll, if that isn’t an option then silencing notifications and staying away from the parts of the platform where the doomscrolling takes place may be the best option
- The questions could be rather simple but need to cover most/all of the problems and the formatting may be an issue, perhaps an online survey, coupled with a different bootcamp for each type. Alternatively you could try and make it so that the suggestions are able to apply to most of the problems.
Based on your profile you pick a challenge that your family incentivizes.
- It would mostly be up to the user and family but again we would suggest things to do, but potential rewards could be cash, tokens with redeemable value, and promises
- challenges could be tracked via the previously stated sheet/graph
- Perhaps if others in your family also have problems with screens then it could be a multi-person project
Share your results to get others involved.
- If others you know could benefit from this then recommend it
- Perhaps having a place to talk about progress or a lack of it could be arranged whether in person or online
