  DEC Unpaved Forest Road Handbook

  This is a great resource from the NY Department of Environmental Conservation on designing, surveying, and building “Public Forest Access Roads” (PFARs): https://extapps.dec.ny.gov/docs/lands_forests_pdf/sfunpavedroad.pdf

  While these roads are build for 18-wheeler log trucks, we want to make similar roads able to accommodate a tractor and wagon (forestry). This will allow access also by ATV and brush-fire truck (program and safety).

  We’ll be using the instructions on pages 8-9 for “Reconnaissance Survey” for the Wednesday PM activity.
