HECS: Ray Dalio’s Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order
Since we’ve enjoyed Ray Dalio’s stuff on economics, I wanted us to work on this high-level work on the rise and decline of empires: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xguam0TKMw8
Here’s what I’d like to do in this project:
- Watch the video and post reactions and take-aways here.
- Work to timeline the empires he mentions and the events of the “Big Cycle” for each. (Post links to the timelines on this thread.)
- Create our own understanding of the Big Cycle using [7] The Matrix — maybe the [7] A Value System version as the basis.
- Come up with our own set of strategies to respond (I’m not sure slowing the decline is possible or desirable, so additional actions might be necessary).
The big point of doing this to see big trends that will effect our family’s / faith communities / Camp’s strategic choices. (Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. OR Those who fail to see the trend will surely be victims of it.)

It was a very interesting video, it was nice to have it all laid out and easy to comprehend. One of my take aways is that internal strife is almost always a prelude to the ultimate down fall.

Very interesting stuff here. I was planning on reading his book.
We just watched this with our family. I feel we really need to figure out the implications of how this effects our families and communities, as Profmag said.
