When alpha-testing The Village challenge, we farmed and mined to gain income to prepare for our trip. While doing this, we discovered it’s far too easy to earn money with out current setup. In 65 minutes we earned:

    Etc: $10,508.50 BOK: $8,039 PM: $4,453

This works out the an average of $117/ min or $7,020/hr or a yearly salary of $14,601,600. (Thanks @etcetera for the math on this.)

As you can imagine, earning so easy will lead to inequality with people creating value in other ways like building houses, so we need to adjust compensation of farming and mining.

My ideas on this so far:

    1. We need another rate to compare this to and create fair trades. We’re working on rates related to build and selling houses.
    2. We might need to peg our values on real-world examples as much as possible, but that will involve research.
    3. It might be possible to control inequality by paying attention to gross margin and trying to create pricing, etc, that keeps it around 10%.
