Today’s Question how many pounds of carbon does a tree actually consume?
https://www.usda.gov/media/blog/2015/03/17/power-one-tree-very-air-we-breathe
The article above says that a mature tree consumes about 48 pounds of carbon.
https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/how-coal-works
This article says that the U.S. burns over 728 million tons of coal per year.
A ton of coal releases 4,172 pounds of Co2 which translates to 2.086 tons of Co2.
This is the number of mature trees you would have to plant to neutralize a ton of burned coal, you’d have to plant 86.9 mature trees. If the U.S. releases 3.0372*10to the 12 then in order to neutralize the carbon footprint of the U.S. you’d have to plant 63275000000 mature trees.
A healthy forest has an average of 50 trees per acre the U.S. has 2.43 billion acres. So taking into account the previous paragraph the U.S. would have to turn 1265500000 acres into healthy forests to neutralize the U.S. carbon footprint.

Today’s focus propane.
1. How much carbon does LP (liquid propane) emit?
2. How many gallons of LP do you use?
Answers below.
- 12.70 pounds of carbon per gallon of liquid propane burned.
2. Try to get a your propane usage from your supplier.
Gas
- How much carbon does gas emit?
2. Does the amount of octane have a difference?
3. How much do you use?
Answer below.
- 1 gallon = 8,887 grams of CO2.
2.
3. You tell me you might use more if you drive to work or less if you work part time.
Carbon Tax
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_tax
The way I see it carbon tax is used to encourage the reduction of carbon usage by raising the cost.
Read the wiki.
This is a interesting idea.
Here’s another way to limit the carbon emissions
And onemore.
