SOF 3.2 Development
I really fell into development of SOF 3.2 in the middle of building SOF 3.1. I was working on “The Oculus” with the first attempts at the 7-star and it’s integration on [7] The Matrix. During this work, I really began to see how the more subjective layer of geometry needed to become it’s own layer in SOF. So I created “Metageometrics” t0 describe this layer. This lead to the thought, “Wow, context should also be it’s own layer.” Of course, this wasn’t that far until, “Well, Systematics Commentary should be it’s own thing as well.” So that lead up to declaring 3.2 and working to build the first version of the SOF as a layered SVG.
I’ll try to track all the changes in this thread.
MAJOR CHANGES:
- Using colors for layers. To try to allow visual distinction for layers, a color code for different layers has been adopted. Please see in the layer description below.
- New Base-Level Layer: Context — should declare the “space” of the Frame. Example: most SOF uses Euclidean Space. Sub-layers for each “plane as a frame”: vertical, horizontal, and transverse.
Most objects and layer color are orange #fcaf3e. - New Base-Level Layer: Metageometrics — a subjective layer of the meta-level shapes and relationships that the user/creator will use to map out the system. In earlier versions of SOF, this level of shapes were the base frames for each numbered “systems shape” upon which all related frames were based. There were a few problems with this: 1) The shapes kept popping up in other frames, leading to confusion and lack of flexibility. 2) the more work done on the numbered line of SOF, the more I began to understand how many different shapes are present in each “numbered zone” of SOF. For example, while [7] The Matrix describes systems with seven major areas of evolution, the 7-star is better for describing the connections and energy flows within the system similar to [5] The Star. This shows that geometry and number should be two independent layers. So from here, 3.2 will allow creation of geometry in the Metageometrics layer and numbered systems diagrams on traced on top of this in the Semantic Ontology layer. Metageometrics will have several levels of layering: the first will be Views corresponding to the 3 planes of Context. Within these views will be at stores fundamental geometric shape numbered according to their base systems number in SOF. The color for objects and layers will be charcoal #333333.
- Regular frame is now Semantic Ontology in it’s own new base-level layer. This is now traced on top of the Metageometric, so it needs to follow the same View structure. This will use the color blue #729fcf for many objects, but will also continue the use of RGB to identify Source-Cycle-Drive motion and elements.
- New Base-Level Layer: Systematics Commentary — a layer for storing comments and content related to the interpretation of the SOF Frame. This will need to also follow View structure as well. Will use color purple #b272cf.
